The last few months have been the busiest period we’ve seen since launching The Independent Coffee Lab just over year ago and we could not be happier to see it blossom into the collaborative community hub that it is becoming. All while staying true to our core purpose and philosophy: to provide a neutral space and a source of knowledge and support at the service of entire coffee supply chain, from coffee grower to end consumer.

While it has been a little quieter than usual on the cupping event side of things in the last few weeks, this month we have an avalanche of coffee tasting events that we’d like to share with you! Next week, we will have the honour and pleasure of welcoming guests who are travelling from the department of Antioquia in Colombia as well as members of the Embassy of El Salvador in the United Kingdom. Then, last but not least, we’re also delighted to announce our very first collaborative ‘multi-importer’ cupping event and Q&A.

We have once again quite a few exciting projects and events in the pipeline that we will tell you about very shortly (June newsletter will be there soon). But for now, we’d like to share with you the upcoming classes and workshops that will take place in the next few weeks. We’re really pleased to be able to start hosting professional coffee courses at the lab on a regular basis and are looking to extend our offering in the next few months (including workshops for non-professionals too!).

We’ve been hard at the work over the last few weeks, refreshing and updating our entire website ahead of the launch of one of our most ambitious project to date: the lab membership program! We’ve also recently officially welcomed Julian Loayza in the team as a freelance trainer, bringing with him bucketloads of experience in coffee education and training. Read on to find out more about his journey.

Weeks have been flying by recently and we have some very exciting news we couldn’t wait to share with you : we are thrilled to officially announce that the Independent Coffee Lab is now London’s newest certified Q Professional Venue!

Welcome to our first newsletter of the year!

It is a little late now for us to wish you a happy new year but still, we hope that 2024 will bring you, your colleagues and your loved ones a lot of happiness, good health and prosperity.

Things have been fairly busy over here at The Independent Coffee Lab over the past few weeks. We’ve made big improvements in our classroom space above the lab (picture below) in preparation of future accredited courses we’re looking to organise this year; more info on that very soon! It is now all setup to accommodate coffee courses, seminars and presentations.

As 2023 comes to a close, so is also the first few months of life and collaborative work at the independent coffee lab. We are very grateful and appreciative of all the companies and individuals who have trusted thus far, whether by participating in the many events we’ve had the pleasure to host, or by using our professional services. It is a true privilege to be able to work alongside so many passionate people and we feel very lucky to be part of such a kind-hearted industry and community.

We’re thrilled to share the announcement of the first Collaborative Coffee Exhibition at our lab in Central London. This project has been in the making for quite some time and it certainly is our most purposeful one to date. Our hope is that this will become a useful tool that coffee producers around the globe can use to initiate new relationships and promote their coffees and brands in potential markets.

It has been a few months since our coffee lab project was launched and, as we’re getting busier, we figured now would be the perfect time to spread our wings and start sending out regular updates into the larger world and coffee community. With many projects in our pipeline, we will strive to send out a monthly newsletter from now on with our latest news and upcoming events, alongside insightful information.
